SO - YOU WANT SOME INK, EH?
There is more than just
slapping some in into your skin when getting a tattoo from Metals Edge Expo. We
take pride in the steps we take to make sure you are a satisfied customer.
Follow along with us as we explain the tattooing process.
1. The first thing you need to know about the tattooing process is that it is
considered a permanent marking on the body and can only be removed by a
professional. If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, please consider this
carefully before making a decision.
2. After you have decided that you still want the tattoo, knowing it is
permanent, you will usually have a customized piece designed from our artists, pick out flash, or bring a design to the shop
for our artists to examine and determine whether the art will work on your area
of choice.
3. We then start the paperwork. What is the paperwork, you ask? Our paperwork
is a waiver and consent form for you to fill out before we start the tattooing
process. The paperwork contains information for you as the customer. We gather
information from you to help us serve you better as a client. The state law
requires us to gather information about your medical history. We also require
you to submit your ID for us to copy and keep on file. If you have any
questions about the paperwork, please do not hesitate to ask any staff member
of Metals Edge Expo. We will be glad to assist you.
4. Once the paperwork is done, we then give it to the Artist to review. This is
important because we need to make sure you do not have allergies to any dyes,
skin solutions, etc that we use.
5. Once you are cleared to go back to the tattoo room, the tattooist will start the process of tattooing your new tattoo on you.
6. We want you to know that your safety is at the utmost importance to us. We
only use NEW needles, New ink cups, disposable tools and autoclaved tools. We want you to understand that we take your safety seriously and we
go beyond what the state regulations are to make sure we provide the most
sterile environment for each client.
7. Once the tattoo is done, the artist will place gauze on it and give you
aftercare suggestions. Please make sure you follow these suggestions to ensure
your tattoo is well taken care of.

CUSTOM ART or FLASH ART?
Custom Art/ Designs are customized designs that an artist will personalize especially for you. Custom Designs are generally done ahead of time with consultations from you to make sure that it is the perfect design for you.
If you have an artist custom design a tattoo specifically for you and you decide you do not want the tattoo but still want the design, you can purchase the design directly from the artist. Flash Art is already pre-designed for you based upon popular designs.
Our studio has a wide variety of tattoo flash. We
also encourage you to bring in your own art work if you do not find something that
you want from our flash designs. Flash art is not a customized tattoo. If you
choose a flash design that you like and have a artist add additional art to it
or change it beyond the normal customizing required for stenciling, it then
becomes a customized tattoo. If you decide to bring in a piece of flash art or design you found please make sure it does not violate copyright laws. If the flash needs to be purchased from an artist or design site, please do so before bringing the art in.
Our artists are also designers. We can customize a tattoo for you. We do a lot of custom designs for our clients on a daily basis. Feel free to speak to our artists about a personalized tattoo. We are happy to customize your design. Please make sure you ask your
artist or a staff member of Metals Edge Expo about your customizing options.

TATTOO AFTERCARE
TATTOO
AFTERCARE SUGGESTIONS – METALS EDGE EXPO
A tattoo is one of the most dynamic
symbols of self-expression ever created and it is important to rely on the
expert guidance of your artist for the proper aftercare of your life-long
treasure. You were tattooed in a modern studio
with sterilized instruments and pigments and, after the process, the artist may
have dressed the tattoo with a small amount of Tattoo Goo. The long life of
your tattoo depends upon the care you give it during the critical first few
days and weeks.
Quality parlor
operators worldwide have helped compile these simple directions for quick
healing. However, we urge you to consult your own tattoo artist for any special
instructions related to the aftercare of your specific tattoo.
Do not
re-bandage the tattoo.
Do not
apply Vaseline, lanolin or petroleum based product.
Do not
apply alcohol or peroxide on the tattoo
Do not
rub, scratch, or pick at the tattoo.
Do not
expose the tattoo to direct sunlight, tanning salons, swim in a dirty lake or in a pool, soak in sauna, steam bath, or
bathtub for 45 days
Be
sure clothing touching your tattoo is clean and soft.
A tattoo is
considered minor surgery. It may bleed at first but it will stop within a
couple of hours. Most artists recommend the tattoo be kept bandaged overnight
or for at least two to five hours. If the gauze sticks to the skin, soak the
area with cold water until the gauze loosens, then remove carefully.
Once the tattoo is
exposed, wash it carefully in warm water, gently applying soap
with fingers (never use a cloth) to remove all surface blood. Rinse with
warm water, pat dry with a clean towel, and air-dry for 15 minutes. Then, gently and
sparingly apply a thin layer of Tattoo Goo salve. Only use the good very sparingly, to much can turn your tattoo mucky. Do not over wash. Once a day in the shower is appropriate unless the scab bleeds. If this happens then remove the blood by washing gently.
After 5 to 14
days, the tattoo may start to peel and scab.
DO NOT pick or peel the skin away. Let it fall off naturally during washing or
application of Tattoo Goo. Fresh skin will soon replace the dead skin. Colors
may fade during the process, but will return when healing is completed.
Tattoo Goo salve
and lotion keep your tattoos from drying and the skin areas soft and moist.
Always apply sparingly. Too much prevents the skin/tattoo from breathing, and
can cause leaching of the colors. If this happens, discontinue use, wash the
tattoo, pat dry, and consult your tattoo artist at your earliest convenience.
After a few weeks,
all scabbing will be gone, but the area may still be sensitive. Continue
regular cleaning and application of Tattoo Goo the Original for
proper aftercare of your tattoo.
Exposure to the
sun is the major cause of tattoo fading, but after a few months, you may
sunbathe in moderation. Always use a sun block (at least SPF-30 sunscreen that
provides UVA and UVB protection). Metals Edge Expo carries the "Tattoo Golor Guard" stick for your convenience in the tanning salons or while tanning at the beach.
At Metals Edge Expo, we prescribe the Tattoo Goo for your new tattoo. Please use as directed. Please feel free to ask your professional tattooist if you have any questions about the products made by Tattoo Goo or visit their website. Stop by the shop and pick up you
